Trusted easy to use quality product
I had been searching for a 2-wire WiFi compatible smoke detector / carbon monoxide / air quality alarms for ages and ages and was pleased to have finally found this device from a trusted name like KIDDE. Installation was a breeze when replacing an existing older 2-wire model. Twist and remove old device, unplug, remove mount (2 screws), install phone app, scan qr on back of new device, install new mount (2 screws), pull device battery tab, plug-in, twist into place, connect new device to WiFi using the app. I installed a total of 6 of the standard smoke alarms, a couple of the smoke / carbon monoxide, and a couple of the air quality devices and can now worry less. These devices are LOUD. They will wake your entire neighborhood up. They come with a 10 year lithium battery! The app is simple. All-in-all I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend to other people wanting to continue building their smart home.

DO NOT BUY - Lots of False Alarms and Always around 2 or 3AM
These have way too many false alarms. The first time I had one I could shut it off with my phone and it wasn’t that big of a deal except that it did wake my kids up in the middle of the night. The next few times I was not able to shut it off with the app. It told me too much smoke in the house and it couldn’t shut them off and I had to leave the house. The problem is there was no smoke, no fire, nothing wrong at all…it was just going off at 2:37 AM For no reason made my kids scared and one of them peed themselves, because she were so scared. It’s a three-story house and had to go all the way down to the first floor and there’s no reason that we should have to do this. These things are supposed to be better than the old style non-smart smoke detectors. I had to uninstall all of these in order to get the sound to stop. This is an absolutely terrible product. I wish I could get my money back. I waited way too long to leave this type of review. It’s been about a year now. Do not buy these save yourself the money, the headache and the hassle.

Best darn one I've found yet
This was recommended by some reputatable site, maybe wirecutter or something. Not only does it have wifi and app alerts, it also monitors your indoor air quality and shows you the total VOC's in ppb. I immediately paid for the subscription, very cheap and now I'm getting an idea of what's going on in the house. It turned out to be very useful and it alerts me when the VOC's get too high. So now I'm on the hunt for why our voc's are jumping up and down. Great buy

False alarms issue resolved
UPDATE2: New smoke detector arrived as promised. Installed with no problem. Have not had any false alarms for the past 3 days. Will update again after a few months. UPDATE: I contacted Kidde via their website. They agreed to send a replacement. Hopefully, it will not have the same issue. Will report on this again. Upgraded to 4 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Worked great for the first 5 months. Then the false alarms started. Cleaned the sensors with some compressed air and thought this might solve the problem. Unfortunately, not. False alarms started again. Maybe I got a lemon. Would love to exchange if possible.

False fire alarms
These Wi-Fi connected “smart alarms” are anything but. False fire alarm alerts blare through the house to all the interconnected alarms. For some reason this always happens between 1 AM and 5 AM. No smoke and no fire anywhere in the house. When you press the button to silence it, the alarm responds “too much smoke to silence”. All the alarms are dust free and cleaned regularly. This is literally exhausting for the whole family. The IAQ measurements read that when anyone walks into or past the living room, the air quality immediately jumps to levels of toxicity. Absolutely not worth the cost for this headache. Get a “dumb” alarm.

Works perfectly to keep me safe!
I ordered this to replace an old Kidde smoke detector that died. I wanted one that also had carbon monoxide detection and I was hoping to either get one where I don’t need to replace batteries, or it would take a 9V battery. I had issues in the past with AA batteries, and they would pop out. This was a breeze to connect, and no need for battery changing. I did have to change out the base to ensure it would fit, but screws went in the same holes and it was easy. I also love the fact that I can get the app on my phone and know what is happening if the detector would start the alarm.

Installation notes and disappointing Alexa integration
Just installed 3 of these, and while they were not difficult to install, the back of the unit extends into the ceiling and is very high meaning that the unit cannot fit in a shallow junction box. One of mine is hanging from the ceiling at the moment while I order an extension to the box which will make it look awkward. Also, the Alexa compatibility is misleading not really useful. I assumed that the smoke detecters would register as devices on Alexa, but they do not. The associated skill allows you to ask a few questions to Alexa about the status of your kidde devices, but skill is not at all useful for home automation. I haven’t yet had them long enough to know if there’s any issue with my devices for either false alarms or air quality readings (air quality readings dont show up for the first few days while it calibrates.)

Someone returned home depot to amazon
Easy to set up and install. These were both used units. One was miss boxed because it was a wireless unit. The other one was boxed correctly but had a Home Depot tag on the package. These were not sealed. I got a replacement unit and again it was open and used.
