Can you use the TR8620A without a mobile phone or social media account?

Absolutely. You can print from a computer like any traditional printer. You can connect it to your printer with a USB cable (you have to supply your own). Or via your own local network, wired or WiFi.

Will it print black and white only if one of the color cartridges is out?

Yes you can just need to change the print setting.

How many pages does the paper tray hold? What is the difference b/w the front and rear paper trays?

For me, the flimsy front paper cassette is such a pain that I never use it. The rear tray is simple to load and will accommodate any size paper, label or card from 4x6 to 8.5x14. It holds up to 40 pieces of heavy (24#) paper, and you can add paper during a run of an even longer job (once you have practice with adding paper without lifting the 'feed slot cover'--the little arm with the little black round piece).
