Used on Chemically Sensitive Dog with no issues
I have a Lab Alaskan Husky (Sled dog) mix who reacted poorly to the topical spot treatment that repels ticks/fleas/flies. We have her on a fipronil based spot treatment now that she does well on, but we have a LOT of ticks out here in Maryland and wanted to save her and ourselves the trouble of trying to pull them off. We got this stuff and we spray her down with it every couple of weeks or so (several days after or before we put on her monthly spot treatment) and it works... so... incredibly... crazy... well! The only downside is that the ticks immediately hop off her and onto me or my husband. To cure this... I sprayed this stuff on my legs and arms... I grew up with horses and typically used the horse spray on myself before going for a ride, so I didn't think much about spraying my own legs with it. Guess what... no skin issues (I'm an auburn-type haired lady with freckles and pink-red skin tone and I tend to be reactive to chemicals also) AND it repelled ALL the bugs. Super safe/gentle (don't spray this on your kids or your face... use some common sense for God's sake) and works. DEET really eats away at my skin and I always break out in hives after I've used it. Neither my dog nor I have had any issues. I ordered this stuff... and reordered it.... and will probably order it in bulk so that if they stop making it I'll still have some. Also... they ship it pretty fast, which is great. AMAZING product and great sellers.

SAFE and Effective
I rescued a kitten who was completely covered in fleas and near death, it was only a couple of weeks old the poor little thing. It actually took over an hour to get the fleas off her using only palmolive and warm water, she was too weak to protest. She was perfectly fine after that and an expensive vet visit, however my other two cats began to have flea problems several months later after the resuce kitten was gone and had a new home! I was reading that fleas in their pupae stage can be around for months and then hatch. Well, things got out of control pretty fast, I started noticing fleas just casually walking around my poor cats face and once I heard a tiny popping sound and it was a flea jumping on my magazine next to me! I was horrified and started with the OVITROL which arrived pretty quickly, I would also sprinkle Borax on my carpet and then vacuum a couple days later- every single nook and cranny getting the corners and under furniture- not fun! and emptying the container right away. I also ordered some boric acid online but then found some at the dollar store, same exact thing! And I also got them Program. A couple of weeks later things were back to normal. The ovitrol was important to use until the Program kicked in. It was kind of hard to use though because one of my cats is very anxious and he just freaked out about it. My other cat started to drool a little bit... but if you read the label it's normal and she was fine 5 minutes later playing. But I did not use as much as it recommends because I could not get them to hold still and also just to be on the safe side. And I started with a little bit at first to see if they would have a bad reaction because every cat is different, but they were okay. The fleas will fly off your cat screaming bloody murder though, so I would do it in the bathroom in the bathtub where you can maybe see them. Read the label THOROUGHLY so you don't miss anything and spray a towel with it to dab anywhere around the head and face. I also chose to get this product because I read a lot of horror stories about other harmful flea products and this one was very safe, it asks you to use gloves, well I tried but I had to grab my cat without gloves and it did not burn my hands or throat and my cats were perfectly fine after a moderate misting.

One step of the process!
This product kills fleas but it will NOT rid you of the problem. It will appear like it did, but don't be fooled! This is how I got rid of my INFESTATION 1 year ago: PART A: 1. Give Capstar and have cat wait while cat is in your tub with about 2 inches of water only. Your cat will hate it. However, dead fleas will drop and the 2 inches will work as a "double tap" from Zombieland. Live fleas will try to "escape" and will drown. This way they won't spread in your home. Wait for like 10 minutes and then let the water go down the drain. 2. Get a huge pot or container to use as your "kitty bath". Make sure it's ready to go before you start. Combine vinegar, some flea shampoo, and warm water. Have it ready! Have a small plastic cup. Dunk your cat's body in the kitty bath BUT NOT THE HEAD. The noise of running water might freak out your cat so it's best to just have additional warm water at hand to pour over it with your cup. 3. Lather your furry one with flea shampoo. Careful with the eyes. 4. Pick off all the fleas you can find. This step sucks but you have to do it. Don't pop them, just have a bowl of soapy water to drown them. Pick, stick your hand deep in the bowl, and let go. When I was "done" that bowl was FULL of dead fleas. 5. Rinse. Repeat steps 3 and 4. This time pay extra attention to the face and under the chin/neck, butt, tail. Fleas are not totally dumb and will rush to that safe area that hasn't been dunked and to the extremities. This will be hard and your back might hurt but you have to get through it. 6. Make sure your cat is not cold. Keep the temperature nice, as soon as you pull your cat from the water roll it up in a towel. Once that towel has absorbed a lot of water, get a new towel. Put a hair dryer on low and begin to warm up/dry your furry friend. I did all of part A at least 2 times with each cat. Btw don't use the same nasty water and wait at least 3 days to give them another pill! Yes, I got scratched and smelled like wet cat. Yes, I was tired and almost gave up. Yes, one of my cats pooped in my bath tub. PART B: 1. Get Orvitrol Spray and have it ready 4. Shave your cat. DON'T SHAVE THE WHISKERS. But Yes. Shave it. Even if it's a short hair breed. Trust me. Shave your cat. Have someone help you hold it down as you work. Get some groomer gloves if you need to. If it's a long hair cat first cut the hair with scissors and then shave away the rest. Spray the fur with Orvitrol and bag it up. Dispose. There will be fleas in the fur that drops to the ground. 3. Salt (that's right, I salted our ENTIRE apartment except our bed, appliances, and counter tops. Works just like borax, except it won't be toxic for your cats when they lick their coat). This will be SO annoying. But it really does help. The salt pierces the flea skin and they bleed to death. You will feel like a crazy person. You will be exhausted after part A. Let the salt sit as long as you possibly can stand it. I could only take 4 days. Then vacuum it all up. Immediately dispose of the bag. If you have a bagless one make sure you throw all the junk out and clean it well. I felt like I was in a weird combination of hell and the North Pole. My apartment was white. I had salt under my nails. 4. DIY flea/insect traps. Place shallow pans of water with a drop of dish soap all over your home. Believe it or not this will trap more than just fleas. I used those big disposable aluminum pans and other random objects. Your cats will not be stupid enough to drink this water as long as they have fresh clean water available to them. 5. Wash all bedding/clothes/etc. Add vinegar to your laundry detergent. 6. Orvitrol your bed, couch, drawers, curtains, closets, and all those comfy cat areas. You might have to keep your cats in one room of the house for a while. 1. Monitor your cat daily. Pick fleas, and drown them in a bowl! You need to look hard but you have to do it. Give them another kitty flea bath as needed. PART C: 1. Begin to put a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar in your cat's drinking water (the organic type with the little brown flakes or "mother" in it). I have 2 cats and the other one refused to drink the water. I used a plastic syringe (without the needle) and put it at the side of it's mouth (near the back). Slowly squirted some and the cat drank by reflex. This will fight fleas and also has a bunch of other health benefits. Continue doing this. 2. Get a good spot treatment like Advantage. Don't waste your time with those cheap Walmart types. 3. Do a flea bath every 4 months for prevention. My cats hated water at first but they grow more and more used to it each time. Sorry for any typos, it's 3 am and I felt like helping someone out!

Works for bots
I used it on a horse I bought over the winter with a lot of bots on his legs. With deworming and this spray, I had no bot infection come spring in my barn.

If Dogs are Man's Best Friend, Ovitrol is My Dog's Best Friend During the Summer
Summer time in the South means lots of places to take the dogs in the great outdoors. However it also means fleas and ticks! I use frontline with my dog, but it is just not strong enough to keep the dog happy during the summer. The fleas here can just get miserable. Our vet suggested using Ovitrol on the dog and Siphotrol Plus II Premise Spray (16oz) on his bedding and favorite sleeping corners. Ovitrol has a very strong odor (it smells a lot like RAID), but sprays in a slightly diffuse stream so it is easy to control where you spray it. Avoid the head and just spray the dogs' back or legs. We use a couple pumps in the afternoon when the dog comes inside. After we got into the habit of giving the dog a couple sprays when he comes inside (and a treat to compensate him for the trouble), we have had NO problems with fleas this summer. The dog doesn't mind the Ovitrol. I just take a deep breath before spraying him. The odor fades very quickly (about 60seconds). Our vet said to apply Ovitrol directly to the dog and to use Siphotrol on the carpets/dog bedding. I would FIRST AND ALWAYS contact your vet before using any new product. If your vet says that Ovitrol is a good option for you, then buy it on Amazon because tends to run 30% cheaper here for the same product. I hope you and your furry friends enjoy a summer free from those annoying fleas.

Didn't work
I have used this (ovitrol) for years for my shih tzu, other dogs, and cats. One soaking would keep my shins tzu flea free for at least a month or more. It was the best deal for the money. But this didnt work this time. I received the bottle, shook it up and sprayed it on him, soaking him. A few days later I see fleas all over his butt. So I think I must have missed that area and spray, soaking him again. A week later he is Covered in fleas from head to toe. (He thinks he is a little farm dog and spends a lot of time outside. We have treated our yard and he is still picking them up.) Obviously Bet Kem is not working. I am so disappointed and will be very cautious about using this product again.

Only flea control that actually works
I have used this particular flea spray on at least 300 kittens up to date which includes my fosters, friends' kittens and stray kittens. This spray kills all fleas in 3 minutes and protects against fleas reliably for several days. I do recommend a long lasting preventative like Advantage after you have applied this, a few days after you have used it. This product lasts a long time and I can spray down probably 20 or so kittens a bottle if not more. It is important that you also treat the environment by vacuuming up flea eggs - under and behind objects that flea eggs might be lurking. Want a flea control spray that actually works? Want to see 100 fleas run for their life? On one really bad kitten I sprayed, I saw literally hundreds of fleas running to the head area where they soon died. This product is not only cheap, but effective. It is hard to find a flea spray that is cheap, it is harder to find one at twice this price that actually WORKS. Make sure to hold your hand in front of the kitten's face while spraying to prevent the fleas getting into the cat's eyes. In fact, this is a spray that the animal shelter here uses because they cannot afford to apply Frontline to every cat. Some shelters can.. but for rural shelters that do not have a ton of money to spend, it can prove to be one of their best investments if they make sure to spray every cat that comes. Kittens younger than the age specified on the product can be treated with capstar. Buy this product. It is the game changer for the flea killers' arsenal.
