I already have one coal stove and have been happy with it for 5 years
I already have one coal stove and have been happy with it for 5 years .I wanted another one for the front of my house the wonderluxe does burn well when it get going .The coal grate is extremely difficult to move back and forth to shake ashes down. The coal gets stuck and I have to use a hammer on the shaker to break the burn peices to get them to drop and get the grate to move back and forth with pea coal. With nut coal it will not burn well and have to clean out and restart every day or so as the big nut coal ashes dont drop through the grate. The ash tray is way to small and shallow. I cannot even go a full 24 hrs with out having to empty it . The ashes build up in the back so it is hard to put the ash catcher back in the stove after emptying it.The stove is so deep 28 inches I had to buy a metal shovel to geet to the back of it to clean it out.the the bottom door is bent and doesnt get a good tight seal. Can only use 2 of the 4 bolts to put the blower on as the that came with it isnt doesnt fit properly . I would not reccommend it for coal. it may be good for wood

Right a Wrong
I Have owned this stove for 3 years. I need to say the previous review is just plain wrong. I have never had a problem with the grates. The only way a grate burns out is if you don't empty the ashes and they fill up to the bottom of the grate. Empty the ashes and no grate problem. If you warp the bottom of the unit you have definitely over fired it. When your in the dead of the winter you will have to empty ashes every day if you burn anthracite coal. Burning wood you can go about two to three days before emptying ashes. The shaker grate is not the best so I dont use it. I bought a flat piece of 1/4 inch steel that is 3 feet long from Lowes and I slot it in above the grate and work it back and forth. It works fantastic. I recommend burning Anthracite coal in it because it works much better and no worries of a flue fire. Enjoy

Don't buy it!!!!!!!!
I can not even begin to explain how awful this stove company is. I had a grate meltdown within a year of purchase, and then when the new grates came they were broke. Not to mention that the whole bottom of the stove had warped. When I sent a claim in for it the people refused it because I had a fan next top the stove blowing the hot air around my house. Apparently that is not a good thing, they said it was over fired... well I call B.S. so don't bother unless less than a years service is all you want
