Use both basecoat and topcoat with the nail polish as it not only protects the nail beneath the polish (basecoat) but gives your manicure longevity (topcoat).

When I searched the question I found: Zoya is presumably cruelty-free and they claim to be fully vegan, although not certified. They have no cruelty-free claim on their website. “To the best of their knowledge”, their products are not tested on animals. So, it sounds like one cannot be positive one way or the other. ;
