I needed these bass drivers (woofers) to repair a set of RCA home theater speakers. The woofers in those speakers fell apart due to the flexible rubber ring around the driver cone dry rotted out and fell apart leaving the woofer useless. My research concluded that these Goldwood drivers would be the best matching replacement. Are they ever !! Better bass performance than original and so nice looking that I am leaving the grille off of the speakers for show. Best economical way to repair my speakers. Reasonably priced for the results I achieved.

I bought a pair of these to replace the speakers in my UA300 since I blew my sub out in one of them. I did some research before buying. Honestly, I was surprised that Goldwood had even some curves on their web site. It indicated decent sensitivity and frequency response. Since the other original speaker still worked I managed to do some comparison after receiving. These are the highlights: - definitely not that sensitive as I expected. It got the same signal as the original speaker and it was probably around 5% quieter than that one. - the response in the lower frequency range is bad. Spec says the range is 35-1500Hz, well, I don't think that it even starts to kick in at 45Hz. - bass is not that powerful as I expected. Suspension is too rigid and I don't think the magnet is strong enough to move to coil effectively. Other than these, I think it's a little overpriced, but the sound is not too bad. A decent entry level speaker.

These Woofers revived my 50 year old Electro Voice EV16B Speakers they sound as good or better than they did 50 years ago! Cant beat the price either!

No reason to comment except to TRY to provide other buyers with a another opinion on how these speakers perform. I read the comments here before I purchased. Some people reported the speakers had great bass output, others said the reverse, and still yet, others said something in between. I had a Sony set-up I purchased some 20 years ago. The right and left tower cabinet speakers each had a tweeter, a mid range and two 12" woofers. Only one woofer in each cabinet was wired and the other woofer was a dummy/non-wired that gave passive sound only. They were GREAT speakers that really banged out clear, crisp, deep bass. All the foaming went bad so I re-foamed; but I still got a barking sound from one of the woofers in one cabinet. I looked to replace it with an original-like woofer..... which I could not find the exact speaker model. So I decided to try these 12" Goldwoods based off comments of some people reporting that they really put out the bass. By the way... I bought two because they are so cheap and who knows I may like them and decide to replace the good speaker too. Let me say I am not a novice to music, stereos and sound equipment. I've been in bands and around sound systems since I was about 7 years old and I have learned to really listen closely to sound systems. All that said, I was a little disappointed in the bass sound these speaker(s) produced (I only replaced the bad speaker and compared it to the original speaker in the other cabinet). This Goldwood speaker had far less bass than my original Sony. There in lays the problem with taking any Amazon review comment very serious because one man's trash is another man's treasure. Unless you buy a replacement speaker, connect it and listen to it, then there is no way to get a true subjective opinion. You can only get/give an objective opinion, i.e. "this speaker was better/worse than what I had." Similarly, I can only say that the deep bass of this Goldwood is inferior to the my old Sony speaker. What it appears I will have to do is replace the other (good) Sony woofer in the other cabinet so I have a matching Goldwood set. Then, to order to get the same deep base that my Sony speakers produced, I will have to use my receiver to adjust (crack up) the bass to the Goldwood woofers. I'm not sure what effect (if any) this will have on the longevity of the Goldwood woofers. Would I buy these again? Going in blind I would say yes. Knowing what I do I would try another brand. I still have the old stand-by comment that so many say "maybe the speaker... the bass will improve over time... after they have been broken-in some." Good luck to you all!

For the price, these seem to be pretty decent woofers. I installed them in some old magnavox boxes I had that the woofers got blown out on so by the time I got theses woofers plus buying the boxes at an auction I have <$100 in a set of speakers that should last me 20 years give or take. I am not an audiophile, but anyone looking at these speakers probably is in a similar boat and understands that you get what you pay for and what you are paying for here is just a decent set of speakers for your home system.

Speakers arrived in perfect condition. Speakers are well made and sound great. I bought them to replace 2 woofers that had decayed due to age. The new 12 inch speakers were a perfect fit for my speaker enclosures.

Great replacement woofer, perfect for an older box or new build. Great value, great sound. Arrived quickly, each speaker packed individually within a slightly larger box.

Speakers are good - fitment was close enough. Led Zep sounded good - not great. Elvis' Little Less Conversation sounded really good, and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Californication rocked quite good as well. Good sound for the price - can't go wrong with these folks. Jack Mac

Used these to replace two 12" woofers in a 1979 Stereo system as the ones in the system were starting to rot around the foam edges.
